Sasa Palmata Nebulosa (Broadleaf Bamboo)
Introduced to the UK in 1889, Sasa palmata nebulosa comes from Japan where it is greatly esteemed for its lush foliage and distinctive markings. This bamboo plant bears huge leaves at the end of long thin culms and branches, which give it a very tropical appearance. When grown as a clump, the canopy has a distinctly flat-topped appearance, although the leaves curve upwards and grow in all directions. Sasa palmata nebulosa is a vigorous, spreading bamboo, which needs plenty of space or the dense foliage will not allow other plants to grow beneath it.
This Sasa is suitable for containers.
