Golden Bamboo (Phyllostachys Aurea)
Phyllostachys aurea, The Golden Bamboo (also known as the Fishpole bamboo) is a ‘running bamboo’ type native to China, that is commonly cultivated as an ornamental garden plant. Although it is extremely frost hardy Golden Bamboo has a low tolerance to drought and restricted water conditions. Phyllostachys aurea has thick, green stems that turn yellow when in full sun, and often has attractively deformed internodes towards the base. As it’s evergreen leaves are retained year to year. Golden Bamboo is popular because it is one of the easiest bamboo trees to grow in the UK, perfect for those with no experience of cultivating bamboo or any exotic species. It grows rapidly in spring and summer.
