With amazing jet black canes offering a dramatic contrast to its evergreen feathery green leaves, its no wonder that Black Bamboo is among the most sought after bamboo plants in the UK. In spring, Black Bamboo produces new green canes which gradually turn black over a two year period.

Unlike Golden Bamboo, Black Bamboo is not normally an invasive species. The striking tall, upright shape and coloration makes Black Bamboo a fantastic specimen plant for a large container. Black Bamboo also looks impressive as an architectural piece, positioned on a lawn or beside water features though it should not be planted in wet or waterlogged soil.
